Chapter 1: The Banquet

The Lights, the music, it all fell on deaf ears and blind eyes. The water tribe warrior sat in silence. It was all for them. The War heros; The ones who led the charge. He was just glad it was over. That war had taken so much from him. His mother, his first love, his second love. His thoughts grabbed him and took him back to that place. In the moment where his world crashed down. He remembered when he found out his mother was gone, and what had happened. He was 5 years old. Hakota, his father had sat him and his sister down at their gran-gran's hut and told them that their mom was with the spirits now. Of course, they cried. Katara sobbed uncontrolably, himself crying silently. A soft touch on his shoulder brought him back to the present. He looked behind him to see his sister. Katara was smiling, her grip tightened on his shoulder as if she knew where his mind was wandering. He put his thoughts on today. Today was the end of war banquet and they were being honored as the ones who led the charge with the Avatar. He glanced over to Aang. His best friend was smiling, though his eyes seemed troubled. Sokka looked at his own hands. He had watched his friend die and then be brought back.He watched as Aang undertook battles, personal or not.  Sokka smiled as he thought about the strong person he had watched Aang grow into. The applause told him it was time to eat, normally he would be scarfing down food as fast as he could; But today, he feared if he ate a single morsel he might vomit. The crowd filled the hall. Forks clanked and chatter rose. Sokka went outside. He walked along the fimilar path, Past the green roofed houses until he came to the clearing. The smell of cherry blossoms filled the air and tickled Sokka's nose. The Stone stood there; cold, hard, and silent. He sat on his knees in front of it. He ran a shakey hand over the name carved on the stone. The tears flowed freely, dripping off his face and down into the earth. He put his hands to his face and cried for the first time in a long time. The ambush had taken her. Taken her to the spirits and left him. He had his friends and his family ; but felt alone. Back at the banquet, a girl with pale green eyes noticed that someone had left. She stepped onto the green grass of the courtyard. The lawn felt nice on her bare feet . 'he woulnt go back there would he?' she thought to herself. The barefoot girl wandered to the spot Sokka sat. She could read people's emotions and feelings; despite her blindness. She stepped forward and sat next to her friend. Without a word she grabbed Sokka and hugged him tight. Sokka opened his eyes to find Toph; hugging him tightly and crying softly. He hugged her back and smelled the Jasmine in her hair. He never wanted to let her go. Toph broke the hug and wiped away his tears. '' Im sorry Sokka..'' She hadnt spoken since the ambush; he missed her voice. '' I miss her Toph...i never even got to say good-bye..'' Tears welled in his eyes as he tried to blink them away. He didnt want to cry in front of her. He was a warrior and warriors dont cry. Toph thought back on the ambush; The fire surrounding them as they slept 10 feet from the refugee camp. The thunderous vibrations of feet and hooves gave her a migrane. There was alot of yelling as she shot boulders at the rengades that attacked them. Then, a scream pireced through all of it, she felt a thud. She felt Sokka run to the body..heard him yell...she shook her head. ''Sokka, there was no saving her..." Toph whispered as she sat with him. Sokka wiped his eyes as he remembered seeing the blood run down Suki's face. He had shaken her, trying to wake her up. Then he saw the renegade who struck her. Rage filled him as he took out his sword and thrust it though the man's abdomen. Sokka clenched his hands in a fist. Toph grabbed his hands and held them tight. ''Its ok Sokka im here with you..'' Toph said sternly.  Sokka's brain switched to Toph hugging him as he cried at Suki's funeral. When she would bring him his food and sit in front of him until he ate because she was worried about him. When she sat up with him and listened to him rattle on and on about his family and Yue and Suki. When she wiped his tears and hugged him tight to keep him from losing his mind. Then it hit him. She had been there through his tough times, he had her. Whenever he would feel low, she was there... Toph grabbed his hand and led him away from Suki's grave. ''Toph. I want to tell you something...'' Toph stood there confused. '' Toph Bei-Fong, when i lost Suki i thought id lost everything. You showed me that i have the world. You have been there for me and helped my keep my sanity when things get tough. I Love You Toph.'' Toph stood there swaying. She couldnt belive what she had heard. She smiled '' I Love You too Sokka i didnt say anything because i wanted you to be happy with Suki.''  Sokka grabbed her and kissed her. Toph closed her eyes and kissed him back. All the years of waiting and it had happened, just like that. Nothing could tear her away from this moment. Sokka broke the kiss. '' Toph, i love you..''  With those words they walked back to the banquet, hand in hand.

Hmmm. This would be much easier to read if you spaced it our more. When reading writing on the internet, with all the uniform type one tends to get lost in the gigantic paragraphs that you see in novels.

Try creating a new paragraph every four-five sentences, by then, you should already be on to the next gerneral idea/image.
